The Full Moon on 1 February rises in Leo, carrying the name Snow Moon: a title rooted in the deepest stillness of winter, when the land is quiet, covered, and conserving energy beneath the surface. This lunation coincides with Imbolc, the ancient cross-quarter festival that marks the subtle turning of the season: the moment when winter’s grip begins to loosen and the first signs of returning light stir beneath the earth.
Imbolc is traditionally associated with purification, inner renewal, and the reawakening of life force. While the landscape may still appear dormant, this is the threshold where seeds begin to quicken in the dark. Paired with the Leo Full Moon, this moment brings together two seemingly opposite forces: the outward radiance of fire and the inward containment of winter’s pause.
